Citizen Science: Birding
Citizen science is all about every day people gathering scientific data and submitting reports to help out the scientists who can't possibly be everywhere all the time to record this information. During this 3 session class, students will learn the basics of bird identification and recording the number and species of birds seen at a given time. They will then report this to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology through eBird at home. Parents will need to approve use of eBird and the Internet as the students use provided webquests each week as extensions of the program at home.
