Jr. Birders Grades 4-8
Calling all budding ornithologists! Witness the amazing spring song bird migration along the Mississippi Flyway! Join other birding enthusiasts every month this fall searching for birds that pass through on their way south for the winter and those birds that are year round residents. We will look for waterfowl, sparrows, shorebirds, gulls, raptors, and more each week.
No prior birding experience is needed! Binoculars are provided in limited supply; if a student does have access to binoculars, please bring them. We will go over proper use of binoculars, using field guides, and learning how to identify birds by silhouette, flight, location and song.
Students need not sign up for all sessions but are encouraged to sign up for as many as possible as each session we will see different birds as they begin their migration through our area. Plus the more sessions attended, the better their identification skills will be!
Each month will meet at a different location within the Twin Cities to make the most of the diverse habitats - urban and suburban - the metro has to offer. Look for more dates coming in the Spring of 2018!
