Dragons & Damsels Grades 4-10
Sign your budding entomologist and Odonata expert up for an afternoon of Dragons & Damsels! This program is great for kids ages 9 to 16 and will give them a chance to have a hands on experience with dragonflies and damselflies.
Some of the things the participants will take part in:
No prior experience is needed, though all levels of dragonfly and damselfly knowledge are welcomed!
We will meet at the Environmental Area in Brooklyn Park (across the road from the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park) in the afternoon when there is the best chance the Odonatas will by flying around for capture.
If your child has a sweep net, s/he is encouraged to bring it!
Everyone should have sturdy shoes that they don't mind getting wet and muddy as we may have to get right to the edge of the pond and stream to catch our dragons and damsels.
Materials provided will be:
If your child has any of these things, s/he is encouraged to bring them along. Also if your child has a clipboard or something sturdy to write on, it is also recommended s/he brings one each day.

- Learning to identify dragonfly and damselfly families
- Learning to identify a few common MN species of dragonflies and damselflies
- Compare the dragonfly and damselfly diversity in three different habitats - field, pond and stream
